Hi. I am Jiyoung Chae.
Currently, I am an associate professor in the department of Media and Communication at Konkuk University.
I  study psychological media effects regarding health and gender.  Specifically, in the health context, my research explores how exposure to information influences our thoughts and feelings, which finally lead to intention or behavior. I  also examine how media construction of "ideal femininity" negatively influence women in the context of motherhood and body image.

안녕하세요. 건국대학교 미디어커뮤니케이션학과 교수 채지영입니다. 
저는 심리학적인 미디어 이펙트를 헬스 혹은 젠더의 컨텍스트에서 연구하고 있습니다. 헬스 커뮤니케이션과 관련해서는 주로 건강 정보의 이용이 어떤 경로를 거쳐 우리의 생각과 행동에 영향을 주는지를 연구합니다. 젠더와 관련해서는 미디어에 나오는 소위 '이상적인 여성성'(예를 들어 모성이나 외모에 대해 이상적인 기준을 강요하는 것) 이 어떻게 여성들에게 부정적인 영향을 주는지에 대해 공부하고 있습니다.

저는 서울대학교 역사교육과를 졸업하고 동아일보에서 6년 8개월간 기자로 일했습니다. 이후 뉴욕대학교에서 2011년에 석사학위를, 일리노이 대학교 어바나 샴페인 캠퍼스에서 2015년에 박사학위를 받았습니다. 싱가폴 국립대학교에서 2년간 교수로 있었고 2017년 9월부터 건국대학교에서 일하고 있습니다.
